Local Families to Join Wallace, Stadelman in Rockford to Urge Balanced Approach to Budget Challenge
ROCKFORD, Ill. – Rockford residents hurt by the proposed elimination of services for middle-class families, the elderly and those in great need will stand with state Rep. Litesa Wallace, D-Rockford, and state Sen. Steve Stadelman, D-Loves Park, to call for a balanced approach to the state’s budget challenges at a press conference Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Milestone Elmwood Heights pavilion, located at 2660 Elmwood Road in Rockford, Ill. Gov. Bruce Rauner’s proposed budget eliminates and reduces many essential services that provide job training, enhance educational opportunities and ensure medical care for those in need. Additionally, Rauner has called for the elimination of home-energy assistance programs for low-income families, which serves over 4,600 Winnebago County residents. Rockford residents who would be directly impacted by Rauner’s proposal will join Wallace and Stadelman in urging state officials to approve a state budget that protects necessary programs including those that help families of children with autism, home heating assistance for low-income residents, and life-saving treatment for patients with breast and cervical cancer.
